Egypt work permits for Chinese staff

An Egyptian "work visa" is really two steps: the employer applies for a work permit for the foreign employee, then the employee obtains work residence based on that permit. Requirements change, so treat this as general guidance.

Process notes

Applications go through the labour authorities and include security review, which can take time. After approval, residence is processed by the passports and immigration authority. Keep entry visas valid meanwhile and keep every receipt.

Our role

We translate documents, arrange certified translations, accompany filings and interpret official notices. We do not approve anything and cannot promise outcomes or timelines.

Planning tips for HR teams

Start document legalization in China before the employee travels; it is the slowest step to fix later. Keep a tracker per employee with entry visa expiry, permit stage and residence expiry. Renew early. Make sure names are spelled identically in passports, contracts and certificates, because mismatches are a common reason for files being returned.
