Construction site interpreting in Egypt

Chinese contractors have worked on major projects in Egypt, including in the New Administrative Capital and in infrastructure and energy. Every site brings together Chinese engineers, Egyptian subcontractors, consultants and crews, with daily coordination meetings, inspections and safety briefings that need precise interpreting.

Typical site work

Site vocabulary

Site language mixes formal engineering terms with crew slang: concrete, rebar, formwork, finishes, MEP. A good site interpreter knows both in Chinese and Arabic. Share the current scope and key documents before the start.

Safety briefings must land

Translating a safety rule is not the same as making sure crews understood it. Put key signs and rules in Arabic, have the interpreter attend the briefing, and check understanding with questions.

Short or extended support

Some projects need interpreting for key meetings only; others need daily support for a phase. We agree the arrangement in writing, and permanent roles can be posted in the jobs section.
